If you are using a mattress that has pocket springs, do not and I mean do not get a platform bed where you don’t need box springs.
I say this because it will sink and you will end up having sink holes in your mattress due to the springs breaking.
It doesn’t matter if you put wood pieces on top of the frame, it doesn’t help and you will end up feeling the wood through the mattress.
The best kind of mattress to have for these types of beds is innerspring or something that is not memory foam and something that is firm so that you don’t sink into it.
